April's Daytona Beach Fishing Report

The bite is picking up in Daytona Beach… There are plenty of Jacks and Bluefish around Ponce Inlet by all the docks. Use live shrimp or small bait fish on a circle hook for the best hook up. I’m hearing sounds of Spanish Mackerel just out side the Inlet. They are catching them on spoons slow trolling or drifting with live bait. The Redfish are starting to move in to their spring time pattern in the Halifax River. Look for them on the oyster bars using a live finger mullet.  The Tomoka Basin in Ormond Beach is heating up with some upper slot Trout. Use live finger mullet or large shrimp free lining on deeper structure. You can also find some Bluefish and Jacks around the creek mouths in the Tomoka on the out going tide. There are some Sheepheads still around the Ponce Inlet and up and down the Halifax River on the deeper dock . Use a live shrimp with a split shot or a fiddler crab on a small jig head.
