Decembers fishing report.

Daytona Beach has been heating up with the Sheephead bite at Ponce Inlet and Port Orange area. The Sheephead are biting on fiddler crabs and shrimp. They are on average of 2 to 3lbs but some larger ones are being caught. As for the Halifax River, the bite has slowed down….. but I can tell you this, If you put your time in there are Trout and Redfish to be caught. The fish are sluggish but are willing to eat if you give them some time. This also goes for the Tomoka Basin and Tomoka River in Ormond Beach. Use fresh cut bait with out or as little weight that you can get away with. The weather has the confused and the full moon we had didn’t help the day bite to well last few week. Things should settle down and the bite should heat up in the week.

St. Johns River from Astor to Deland is holding some good specks averaging 1.25-1.5lbs each with some larger ones up to 2.5lbs. Most are coming off of little jigs but once they turn off of that switch to minnows.
