Halifax River July Fishing Report

The Redfish are on fire in the Tomoka Basin area. Ormond Beach is producing some great quality fish right now.  Bait of choice is either cut mullet or crab if you are looking for the over slot fish and if you are looking to put keepers in your boat go to a shrimp or smaller finger mullet. If you are a great at catch Pompano, there are plenty of them on the flats of the Tomoka Basin in Ormond.  The Mangrove Snapper are all over the docks in Daytona Beach and are pretty good size 10 plus inches. Use shrimp or tiny bait fish on a #1 hook and split shot. Ponce Inlet is great for Shark, Tarpon and Kings, If you can find bait pods off the beach or shrimp boats that are dragging, you will find one or more of these in the mix. Slow troll or drift large live bait around the boat or the bait pods.
