Daytona Beach May Fishing Report

With June fast approaching and the water temp getting warmer the bite is getting hotter in Daytona Beach area. Tomoka River has Tarpon scattered in it along with Snook, Trout and Reds. The Tomoka Basin has a lot of bait moving through it which is starting to turn on the bite. The reds are starting to stage on points and creek mouths feeding on the bait that is getting flushed through and around. The top water bite is getting better and better every day. The Trout are starting to show up in the Halifax River in the Ormond Beach area around the deeper docks and hitting live shrimp or jigs. As you work closer to Ponce Inlet in the Port Orange area the Jacks and Bluefish are is dominating but if you move back in the creeks and canals you will find some Redfish and Trout around the oyster bars. Start of your day with top water and as the sun comes up start fishing a little deeper if you are fishing with artificials. For you live bait fishermen free line mullet and shrimp around oysters, docks and creek mouths.
